Relax & Recover is an excellent herbal remedy for insomnia or just to take sleep a little deeper.  It can also be taken during the day in times of anxiety to calm the nervous system, AND, it’s not a sedative, so it won’t make you drowsy.

Visualize your nervous system being nurtured and restored, and your immune system being supported by this unique blend of Skullcap, Echinacea, St. Johns Wort and Lavender in a glycerin base. Contains less than 1% alcohol.

Relax & Recover is a unique blend of herbs to support the over-taxed nervous systems of today.  Long ago, humans needed to be hyper-alert in order to survive.  We needed to be able to go into the fight or flight response mode at a moment's notice, either to flee from wild animals or to fight an invading warrior.  The dramatic spikes of adrenaline were necessary then, but typically are not anymore.  Persistent surges of adrenaline can damage blood vessels, increase blood pressure, and elevate the risk of heart attack or stroke. It can also result in anxiety, weight gain, headache, and insomnia.  The problem lies in that our nervous system cannot distinguish the difference between the shock of a morning alarm clock, and the shock of a live tiger appearing before you.  Adrenaline coursing through your system in either instance has the same effect…although, your clock won’t eat you.  These constant mini jolts of adrenaline throughout the day take its toll and can result in all of the symptoms mentioned above.

Dosage

1-2 droppers-ful taken directly under the tongue, or with a little water or juice when needed; take 1 additional dropperful after 20 min, if necessary

Ingredients

  • Skullcap
  • St. Johns Wort
  • Echinacea
  • Lavender

Studies show that Skullcap has significant antioxidant effects, and may help protect against neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, anxiety, depression. Skullcap is one of the most versatile nervines and is also useful for headaches, stress, menstrual tension, insomnia and nervous exhaustion. It soothes the irritability of the nervous system and can calm the overly excited mind.

St. John’s Wort has been used in traditional European medicine as far back as the ancient Greeks. Historically, it has been used for a variety of conditions, including kidney and lung ailments, insomnia, and depression, and to aid wound healing.  Currently, St. John’s Wort is promoted for depression, menopausal symptoms, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), somatic symptom disorder (a condition in which a person feels extreme, exaggerated anxiety about physical symptoms), obsessive-compulsive disorder, and other conditions. Taking St. John’s Wort with certain antidepressants or other drugs that affect serotonin, a substance produced by nerve cells, may lead to increased serotonin-related side effects, which may be potentially serious, so please check with your physician before ingesting if taking these medications.

It is believed that Echinacea contains active substances that boost immune function, relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and have hormonal, antiviral, and antioxidant effects. For this reason, professional herbalists may recommend echinacea to treat urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast (candida) infections, ear infections (also known as otitis media), athlete's foot, sinusitis, hay fever (also called allergic rhinitis), as well as slow-healing wounds. Preliminary lab studies suggest echinacea may help inhibit colon tumors when combined with cichoric acid. One study even suggests that echinacea extract exerted an antiviral action on the development of recurrent cold sores triggered by the herpes simplex virus (HSVI) when taken prior to infection.

Lavender is a gentle herb that contains a chemical compound called linalool, which is thought to help with headaches, depression, stress and anxiety reduction. It is often used to promote relaxation, and is believed to have sedative and pain-relieving (analgesic) properties.  It also adds that magical essence to our R & R formula. :)

Does the job over many other over-the-counter herbal products I’ve taken, e.g. Melatonin and Valerian Root capsules.
